Minor ERP & BI

English
Controlling organizations today demands increasingly higher management efforts, because, it is often difficult to get a clear picture of the performance of an organization. The need to use a management model for developing a strategy and to execute that strategy, forms the basis to rearrange and to control new business processes with advanced and integrated software such as an Enterprise Resource Planning system (ERP). In this way, a broad data foundation for the visualization of process indicators is available for analyzing the business performance in depth. And these analytics are used to initiate adjustments actions by the management. The needed collection, analysis, reporting and visualization takes place using modern software facilities, known under the name of Business Intelligence (BI).

This minor explores some important issues, such as management models in relation with the mission and strategy of an organization. Another issue is about determining objectives and translating objectives into performance indicators and various reports. Moreover, the structure and coherence of different business processes will be discussed, but also the related support from an ERP (the minor uses SAP). Designing, organizing and employing an architecture with modern ICT in which the data from the ERP and other data sources are collected and registered, are an essential part of the minor. That architecture is mainly aimed at providing essential information to the management, for the purpose of analyzing and controlling business performance at a tactical and strategic level in organizations. Within the BI are therefore various facilities. This applies with regard to a data warehouse, analytic applications (OLAP), dashboards, data mining, information graphics and the new phenomenon Big Data. That means you not only get presented theory, but also in a practical sense gain proficiency with modern tools from different vendors.

Courses in period 1 (a total of 15 ECT’s are obligated):

Business Audit and Processes (vak BAP - 3 ECT's):
For auditing the Business Performance a broad understanding is required about organization structures, business functions and processes and the use of a Enterprise Resource Plannings (ERP) system within a particular business.
Business Intelligence - Data Warehousing (vak BIDW - 3 ECT’s):
Introduction to the concepts of Business Intelligence (BI) and Data Warehousing (DWH). Main topics: compelling need for strategic information, business requirements, architecture and infrastructure of a DWH, daa design and preparation, information access and delivery.
SAP Data Analytics 1 (vak SDA1 - 3 ECT’s):
(Part 1) All ERP systems are database driven. Understanding how the database is interacting with the ERP system is key for a deeper understanding of its functionality. Essential is how the data is structured and setup. Within this course we’ll dive into the SAP ERP system and see how the data is stored, changed and retrieved. For retrieval we will use standard SAP functionality as well as custom made queries.
SAP Process Analytics (vak SPA - 3 ECT’s):
Many companies use ERP systems to integrate their business processes. Such a system enables interactions of different departments within a single database. This will eliminate the occasional loss data and retyping errors. It integrates all departments and functions across a company in a single computer system that is able to serve all those different department's particular needs. Within this course we will explore an SAP system and practically work through several of the business processes.
Statistics for BI and BD (vak STAT - 3 ECT's):
Basic knowledge about the statistical expressions within datamining and big data. Needed to select the relevant function for a particular analysis and for the right interpretation of the results coming out of the analysed model.

Courses in period 2 (a total of 15 ECT’s are obligated):

Big Data (vak BGDT - 3 ECT’s):
Big data are high volume, high velocity, and/or high variety information assets that require new forms of processing to enable enhanced decision making, insight discovery and process optimization. Big data usually includes data sets with sizes beyond the ability of commonly used software tools to capture, curate, manage, and process the data within a tolerable elapsed time. Big data sizes are a constantly moving target, as of 2012 ranging from a few dozen terabytes to many petabytes of data in a single data set. With this difficulty, new platforms of "big data" tools are being developed to handle various aspects of very large quantities of data.
Datamining (vak DTMG - 3 ECT's):
Data mining is a business process for exploring large amounts of data to discover meaningful pattern and rules, which can be used for identifying business opportunities and risks. Advanced mining facilities, like decision trees, neural networks and association rules, are available for the business analist for profiling and predictive modeling.
Information Graphics (vak IFGP - 3 ECT’s):
The knowledge of processing, interpretation and evaluation of data are evident subjects for future communication, strategic and business developments. This representation of this data by information graphics is becoming more important so that the data or informatioon is clear and understandable for its potential users.
KPI's and Dashboards (vak PIDB - 3 ECT's):
Performance measures should help the organization to align daily activities to stratigic objectives. The course has been set up for developing, implementing and using winning Key Performance Indicators (KPI). The progress of these KPI's is shown on a dashboard, created by the student.
SAP Data Analytics 2 (vak SDA2 - 3 ECT's):
(Part 2) All ERP systems are database driven.

SAP CRM

a. SAP ERP
b. SAP BI: Het Business Intelligence system van SAP(voorheen SAP Business Warehouse)
